Shortlist Consulting was founded in mid 2005 on the principle of offering the business community innovative and cost effective recruiting options. The concepts behind the company’s establishment can be traced back to the advent of online job boards in the late 1990’s.

 

Shortlist Consulting has refined earlier efforts and introduced additional offerings. It has created a business model where fixed overheads have been virtually eliminated, incurring costs on an almost completely variable basis. The resulting savings are passed back to clients by way of substantially reduced and more reasonable fees. This approach enables the entire business focus to be placed on the recruiting function, rather than becoming diluted by issues such as facilities management and administrative detail.

 

Over the last decade, technology has conferred many cost efficiencies upon the recruitment process, but most traditional agencies have not changed their business model to reduce the recruitment cost to their clients.

 

Most traditional recruiters charge a success fee of around 15% of candidate remuneration for their services, often between $8,000 and $20,000. They have to charge this rate due to high overheads and because they will not be successful with all assignments. Typically, if suitable candidates are not found quickly, efforts are directed to other clients more promising vacancies.

 

Most SME’s can not afford cost imposts of this magnitude and have to attempt the recruitment task themselves. To say this is an inappropriate use of their valuable time is a given. Most are ill equipped and lacking in specialist knowledge to do this well, which is understandable. We function virtually as an outsourced recruitment department at less cost and more effectiveness.
